The Diplomas of Theology and Ministry

 

The Timothy Partnership offers online  Diploma and Advanced Diploma awards in both Theology and Ministry . For more information about the Advanced Diploma awards, please see the Advanced Diploma Course Outline.

These awards are Higher Education Diploma programs of the Australian College of Theology (ACTh). The Diplomas provide an introduction to Christian theology and aim to equip you with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills appropriate to Christian ministry. Successful completion of Diploma units at Credit level can be easily transferred to a Pass in Degree units at other ACTh Colleges across Australia. Each unit of study in the Diploma is worth 4 credit points. A full-time load is 4 units per semester; To be eligible to access Centrelink benefits, a student needs to study a minimum 75% load, which equates to 3 full units (12 credit points) per semester.

Diploma of Theology

This is the primary award offered by the Timothy Partnership. It consists of twelve semester-long units.

To receive a Diploma of Theology from the Timothy Partnership, students will complete:

Old Testament Overview

OT201 – Old Testament Foundations
OT202 – Old Testament Prophets and Writings

or

OT240 – Old Testament Overview

New Testament Overview

NT201 – Jesus and the Gospels
NT202 – The Early New Testament Church

or

NT240 – New Testament Overview

Two units of Biblical Exegesis

OT205 – Genesis, Deuteronomy, Samuel
NT207 – Selected Letters of the Pauline Corpus & the Book of Revelation

Two units of Systematic Theology

TH210 – The Doctrine of God and the Person and Work of Christ
TH211 – The Holy Spirit, Grace and Hope

Two units of Church History

CH201 – The Church to 1550
CH202 – The Church from 1550 to Modern Times

Ministry and Practice Electives

1 to 3 ministry and practice electives (depending on the selection of New and Old Testament overview units)

Diploma of Ministry

This award provides more space for ministry and practice electives. It consists of 12 semester-long units.

To receive the Diploma of Ministry from the Timothy Partnership, students will complete:

OT240 – Old Testament Overview

New Testament Overview

Combined Diplomas of Theology and Ministry

This award combines the best of both awards and allows students to take more ministry and practice electives and receive two Diplomas for only 4 units more work. It consists of 16 semester-long units.

To receive the Diplomas of Theology and Ministry from the Timothy Partnership, students will complete:

Advanced Diploma of Theology

Adv Dip of Theology requires the  successful completion of  Diploma of Theology (12 units at 200 level), then 4 units at 300/400 level.

The Timothy Partnership is a joint venture of Youthworks College, an affiliate college of the Australian College of Theology, and Presbyterian Youth, which has partnered with Christ College, an affiliated college of the Australian College of Theology.

Together, Youthworks College and Presbyterian Youth deliver diploma courses of the Australian College of Theology. Presbyterian Youth is approved to offer 200 level units towards the undergraduate diplomas of the Australian College of Theology on behalf of Christ College.
