Chaplains

To qualify to become a School chaplain, there are 3 options:

  1. If you have a previous award, eg a degree in teaching, social work, psychology or theology, then you may only need to complete the Certificate in Theology, consisting of Old testament, New Testament, Christian Belief, and one of the following : Religion Educations or Lay Ministry Field Education or Christian Leadership and Managment. In addition Introduction to Pastoral Care (IPC) and Advanced Pastoral Care (APC) must be completed before starting as a School Chaplain.
  2. If you are thinking about a scholarship with Generate, then you may need to study the Academic Studies in Theology Certificate (ASTC). The scholarship can be taken over one year or two, but your study will also need to include the two electives, IPC and APC.
  3.  If you do not have any theological qualifications or any of the above degrees, then a Diploma of Ministry or a Diploma of Theology might be what you need to complete, after first having done the two Certificate units. IPC and APC.

However for any general enquires about your eligibility for Chaplaincy, please contact Generate in the first instance.

Or if you need some more specific information about your academic standing, then please contact Timothy Partnership Student Services
